Coach’s Corner: Girls Basketball Coach Randy Jordan
How long have you been coaching basketball?
This is my 9th season coaching basketball at NHS.
Goals:
We have two goals, have fun and continue improving.
What is your favorite thing about coaching basketball?
I enjoy using the game of basketball to teach players valuable lessons about life. A team and individual players will have to contend with adversity at some point during the season. Life will be full of adversity, and I can help players learn how to respond when life becomes difficult.
What brings the most satisfaction: a well-played game or a winning game?
A well-played game gives me the most satisfaction. I never talk to the team about winning or losing a game. Society in general tends to measure the success of a team and the effectiveness of a coach by the win/loss column. As a result, the big picture is obscured. A well-played game means the girls “played hard, played smart and played together,” and when they do that, they are winners regardless of the score at the end of the game.
