125 endowment funds technology
Since 1885,more than 15,000 students have walked the halls of NHS. Now, those students have a chance to give back to the people who gave them their education.
The Railer 125 endowment is a fund that anyone can donate to. It provides an opportunity for alumni, the community and friends of the school to support NHS’ current students and staff.
The money raised will be used specifically to enhance technology at the high school. Grants for teachers and innovative programs for the classrooms are just a few possibilities.
The initial goal of the Railer 125 endowment fund was to collect $125,000. Currently, the fund is just short of $100,000.
“The fund is important because the economy is so stressed right now,” principal Ken Rickard said.
Homecoming weekend, Oct. 1-3 2010, marks the closure of the endowment campaign. There are several potential activities planned, such as a fun run, golf tournament and tailgate party.
“It’s a celebration for everyone that has graduated here,” Superintendent John Morton said.
Rickard and Morton are hopeful that the endowment will meet its goal.
“A lot of people have donated, and hopefully a lot more people will,” Rickard said.
